Byron Company Expands Overseas

At a time when the economy is on the brink of a rebound, one company in central Georgia is going global.
“We've been very fortunate to have a product in a new industry that's in high demand,” says Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jeff Dyson.
Kooler Ice makes vending machines, so instead of purchasing bags of ice from a third party, the ice is made on the spot at your convenience.
“We've been very fortunate during the recession to have a product made in Middle Georgia that's been able to export overseas,” says Dyson.
Kooler Ice is a new company. They just got off the ground back in 2007, and since then the demand has been hot. They’ve worked in markets as far away as Australia.
“It's been an excellent opportunity for us to move into that market place,” added Dyson.
Dyson says the global demand helps stabilize productivity.
“It diversifies us because when we're going into the winter months here in Georgia we're actually going into the summer months in Australia, so it's allowed us to level out our production through the winter months, which is what you want to do from a manufacturing standpoint,” says Dyson.
Best of all, expansion overseas means more jobs back here at home.
“There's positions to move up in Kooler Ice. We have a five tier level that you can advance through the company,” says Vice President of Operations Bob Fosson.
“From our perspective exporting has been very good. We're glad that we're doing it and we look forward to continuing to build our product and our brand outside of the United States,” says Dyson.
